Firstly, you will have to select your jump rope/skipping rope (they may be weighted to increase difficulty); plastic 'speed' ropes are favored over cotton ropes due to the ease of handling them. To ensure the rope is adjusted to your height, stand on the middle of the rope and the handles should reach just below your shoulders. Always keep your elbows slightly bent while jumping ensuring your hands are at hip height. You should land on the balls of your feet always to avoid injury and keep your face close to the ground when jumping, your arms should also be close to your body.
